Inmate Rules & Regulations

Privileges are dependent upon inmate classification and are subject to removal for any Jail rule violation.


  1. Televisions may be turned on at lights on and will be turned off at lights out/lockdown.

  2. Television volume will remain low enough so that it does not interfere with the orderly operation of the jail.

  3. Inmates may not turn on the television after lights out or lockdown for any reason.

  4. The remote control for the television shall remain in the common area of the dayroom. Any fighting over the remote or abuse to the remote will result in loss of television privileges.


  1. Inmates may be allowed telephone access after the completion of the booking process to contact an attorney or notify family.

  2. Personal calls may be made daily from the cell block dayroom. Calls from cell blocks can be made collect, by use of a calling card purchased through the Jail, or by use of a prepaid account set up through Securus Technologies, Inc.

  3. There is a fifteen minute limit per phone call.

  4. Phones will be turned on at 9:00 a.m. and turned off at 9:00 p.m.

  5. Third party calling is prohibited.

  6. Instructions for operation and rules are posted in each cell block and must be followed or phone privileges will be cancelled.

  7. Phone cards may be ordered on Wednesdays and Sundays and will be delivered on Thursday and Monday. This schedule is subject to change without notice.

  8. Phone cards are available in $5, $10, $15, $20 and $50 denominations. There is a $50 maximum order limit.

  9. A Friends and Family Telephone Service Guide for Securus Technologies, Inc. are available upon request.


  1. Visits will be limited to immediate family only. Immediate family includes:

    • Spouse
    • Parents
    • Adult Children
    • Grandparents
    • Adult Siblings
    • In-Laws
    • Step-Family

  2. Visiting hours are on Sundays and Holidays from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visits are allowed either Sunday or Wednesday. A visitor may visit once in any given week excluding holiday visits.

  3. Visits will be limited to 15 minutes per visit.

  4. All visitors will be required to produce identification and sign the register.

  5. Persons under the age of 18 will not be permitted to visit.

  6. Inmates and visitors will not be allowed to eat, drink or use any tobacco products in the visitation area.

  7. No ex-inmate of the Price County Jail will be allowed to visit any person within this facility for 90 days after release.

  8. Number of persons per visit is restricted by staff.

  9. A visit will be terminated if an inmate or visitor engages in inappropriate behavior.

  10. Inmates will exit the visitation area promptly when notified by Jail staff that the visit is terminated.

  11. Any violation of the above regulations will result in the immediate suspension of the visit, and the visitor may not be allowed future opportunities to visit an inmate in the Price County Jail.

  12. An inmate in lockdown status during scheduled visitation will forfeit that visit.

  13. Request for exceptions to the rules for visitation must be submitted in writing to the Sheriff for approval.

  14. Professional visits may take place outside regular visitation hours. Professional visitors should contact the Jail to schedule an appointment.


  1. Canteen orders shall be submitted on Sunday and will be delivered on Tuesday or Wednesday unless otherwise indicated by Jail staff.

  2. Inmates may purchase items specified on the Canteen Order Form if they have available funds in their Trust Account.

  3. Inmates may not purchase canteen items for other inmates.

  4. Inmates may not share or give away canteen items.

  5. Inmates are limited to ordering 24 food items per order with a maximum of 2 of each item.

  6. Inmates are allowed to possess no more than:

    • Powdered Drinks: 1 of each item in category in possession.
    • Chips, Candy and Snacks: 24 items with a maximum of 2 each of the same item.
    • Hygiene Items: 1 of each product category in possession, i.e. 1 soap, 1 shampoo, etc.
    • Miscellaneous: 1 of each category in possession. Exceptions are:
      • Stamped Envelopes - 12
      • Folders - 2
      • Legal pads - 2

  7. The Jail reserves the right to cancel a canteen order or remove any canteen items in an inmate's possession for Jail rule violations.

  8. Canteen items from other correctional facilities that are not listed on the Price County Jail Canteen Order Form will not be allowed. All unwrapped canteen items will be placed in the inmate's property bin.


  1. Library visits will be conducted for each cell block as follows:

    • Monday - Three-man cell block
    • Tuesday - None
    • Wednesday - Lower two-man cell block
    • Thursday - Upper two-man cell block
    • Friday - Six-man cell block
    • Saturday - Five-man cell block
    • Sunday - Four-man cell block

      This schedule is subject to change and may be altered due to staff availability, professional visitation schedule changes, and Jail emergencies.

  2. Request slips for library visits should be put in no later than 5:00 p.m. on the day of the Library visitation.

  3. Inmates are limited to 6 books, magazines, newspapers, etc. at any one time. The Bible, religious books and legal books are included in the limit listed above. Formal education books are not counted in this limit.

  4. Inmates are limited to 1 board game, puzzle or card game (i.e. Uno); also 1 regular deck of playing cards is allowed in addition to the previous items.

  5. All games must be kept in the same condition in which they were received. Game pieces, cards, etc. should not be switched or removed.

  6. Inmates may not rip out pages from Jail books or magazines; doing so may result in the loss of Library privileges.

  7. Inmates may not write on, or deface any Jail Library items.

  8. Inmates who engage in disorderly, reckless and/or dangerous behavior will be removed from the Library and will be subject to further discipline.

  9. Inmates and their Library items are subject to inspection.

  10. Inmates may order books and/or magazine/newspaper subscriptions from vendors only. No dropped off library material will be accepted.
